Britain’s housing stock tells the story of changing ambitions, materials, regulations and ideas about modern living. From the optimism of ‘Homes for Heroes’ to post-war system building, the rise of volume housebuilding and today’s retrofit revolution, each era has left behind its own distinctive successes, defects and unintended consequences.

This new CPD series takes a fresh and highly visual look at the evolution of British housing through the eyes of a surveyor. Combining housing history, building pathology, construction methods and real-world case studies, the talks explore why houses behave the way they do — and why surveyors today are still dealing with the consequences of past decisions.

Designed for residential and building surveyors, heritage consultants and property professionals, the series focuses on the ordinary houses we inspect every day, revealing the stories, experiments, materials and mistakes hidden in plain sight across Britain’s ageing housing stock.

Format:

These CPD training sessions will be delivered live online via Zoom. You will be encouraged to ask questions and participate in the discussion.

They will be recorded, and links to watch the sessions at a different time, along with any relevant notes and resources, will be sent to all registrants.

This training qualifies for 6 hours of formal/structured CPD. A certificate of completion is available upon request.

This CPD training is intended for, but not exclusive to, those who are involved in the pre-purchase survey or acquisition stage of either residential or commercial property and also for those involved in property maintenance.    No prior knowledge or qualifications are required. It is taught in English, so you must have a good understanding of the English language.
