ON DEMAND CPD Brickwork - what you need to look for

Overview:

This CPD will be useful for when doing a building survey, or maintenance inspection, on any structure that is built from, or includes, brick.   This could be, for example, houses or industrial buildings, garden walls or infill panels in a historic timber-frame.

Topics covered:

In this session, we will:

• Look at the differences in brick making through the centuries
• See examples of damage caused by cement mortars
• Decision making for options for repair or repointing

Additional information:

Many of the defects that property professionals face are not simply due to the age or weathering of a building.   They are most commonly defects which are the consequence of inappropriate repair done many years previously.  In most cases these defects were avoidable.

Suitability

This training is suitable for everyone, regardless of background or experience.   No prior knowledge or qualifications is required.  It is taught in English, so you must have a good use of the English language.

The training is intended to be of most value to RICS surveyors but it will also be useful to surveyors who are members of other professional groups, students, post-grad students, apprentices and those who might be seeking a career change later in life.

Format

This CPD training will be delivered online. This training qualifies for 1 hour formal CPD.
